Liststravaganza!!!!!!

So it’s the end of the year which means it’s LIST TIME!!!!!!! Who doesn’t love lists? If you were to look at me and say that you didn’t like lists I would probably call you a liar because that is what you would be because everyone loves lists.  This is a scientific fact I believe. So from here until the end of the year I’m going to be compiling a bunch of end of the year lists!!! Get excited because it’s going to be list-tastic!! So let’s get this ball rolling!!!! WITH A LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TOP 5 FRUITS OF 2009!!!!!!!!

5. APPLES!!!!!!!

APPLES!!!!!!

Yay for apples! A good, solid fruit. Never before has a fruit been so resilient that year after year it shows up on these lists. It hit a peak back in 2001 with the boom in patriotism. Everyone needed something good to represent the country that they loved. Ever since it’s been riding a cool steady stream on the “fruit charts.” If it weren’t for the occasional mealy apple this would have made it higher on the list. The problem with mealy apples can always be solved by making it into apple sauce though, which is a nice substitute. Also apple juice is a favorite juice of mine. A tasty fruit that makes a good beverage that’s gotten me through lots of rough mornings.

4. STRAWBERRIES!!!!!!!

STRAWBERRIES

What a tasty fruit. It is also a very versatile snack. Not only is it delicious on it’s own but try dipping it in chocolate or even cutting it up and putting it into a smoothie. I also recall a song from my childhood that my sister liked and would play a lot in the car on family trips called “Strawberry Wine.” If I’m correct the singer seemed to like this strawberry wine, and that it would remind her of other times like when she was 17 I believe. See, now there’s a good fruit!

3. WATERMELONS!!!!!!!

WATERMELON!!!!!!!!

Oh what a delicious summertime fruit. However this fruit isn’t just good in the summertime, it happens to be quite nice whenever you can get your hands on it. The other great thing about a watermelon is the seeds, turning a sweet treat into a tiny weapon. The watermelon, not only a delicious fruit, but a fun time that can be had by all.

2. GRAPES!!!!!!!

GRAPES!!!!!!

Before I get into how good grapes are, let me thank www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com for bringing us this photo of an obviously super cool homemade costume. THANKS!!! Grapes are just really good, and this year grapes really went above and beyond. By this I mean I just ate a lot more grapes this year than the past, and they were delicious. I always feel like a giant when I eat grapes straight off of the stem. Hanging the bushel of them above my head for my teeth to delicately pluck the round fruit off the stem. What a great fruit, not to mention the fact that it’s the main ingredient to everyone’s favorite, wine!

1. SATSUMAS!!!!!!!

SATSUMAS!!!!!!

This cartoon is hilarious because it’s true! We can all agree with the kid who finds a satsuma in his stocking and exclaims, “WOW! A SATSUMA!” Everybody gets excited when they get a satsuma, everybody! This is why it should come as no surprise that the satsuma is number 1 this year, it’s been topping charts everywhere for years. There isn’t much to say about the delicious fruit that hasn’t already been said before. However, if you find yourself doubting this fruit I implore you to easily peel away the peel of a Satsuma, lightly tear off a piece of the delectable fruit, and taste the deliciously juicy nectar of the gods, then say that this fruit isn’t amazing! You can’t do it.  Well I guess that you can, but you would be lying to yourself and no one wants to do that. Thank you Japan for introducing this spectacular fruit to the West.
